the second day in a row, the honorary professors at the College of Pharmacy
continued their activities in the presence of the Dean of the College, the
College Board of Directors, a number of faculty members at the College,
clinical trainers, laboratory supervisors, and a number of graduate students. During
this day, each honorary professor gave a lecture that included a summary of his
activities, research, and research fields related to each of their
specialization. After each lecture, a discussion took place between the
attendees and the professors about areas of cooperation and the nature of
research that could be carried out. The
honorary professors also gave their opinions and answered the audience’s
inquiries and how to reflect and develop their experiences in cooperation in
the field of scientific research and the work of joint projects and sharing
their experiences in the field of training by giving lectures and workshops and
continuous communication with faculty members and students and through seminars
and conferences and providing guidance and guidance to students of studies.
Higher education and providing advice on amending study plans and subjects
taught in the college, as this has a significant impact on the development of
the educational process and professional development in the pharmaceutical
sector.

| | | As part of the activities of the first honorary professors' forum at the University of Jordan, the College of Pharmacy hosted five honorary professors: Dr. Iman Abu Gharbiyeh, Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Sharjah, Dr. Claire Anderson, Professor of Pharmaceutical Practice from the University of Nottingham, Dr. Martin Henman, Professor of Pharmacy from the University of Dublin, and Dr. Beverly Glass is Professor of Public Health from James Cook University and Dr. Thaqif Khasawneh is Professor of Experimental Trauma Surgery and Regenerative Medicine from the University of Giessen, Germany. At the beginning of the meeting, the Dean of the College, Dr. Rula Darwish, welcomed the honorary professors, praising their efforts and contributions in the field of pharmacy. This meeting included an introduction to the main committees in the college and their role in developing pharmacy programs and pharmaceutical practice. There was a lengthy discussion about training in the college, and the honorary professors presented some suggestions for developing training. At the end of the first day, a field tour of the college was conducted.

| | | A team of students from the College of Pharmacy at the University of Jordan participated in the activities of the first competition in pharmacology and therapeutics at the level of colleges of pharmacy in Jordan, which was held at Zarqa Private University. The team of students from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Jordan won first place, after qualifying for the final stage in the competition in which eleven Jordanian universities participated. This competition aims to enhance knowledge exchange between students of colleges of pharmacy in Jordanian universities, raise the quality of teaching and learning outcomes, and develop work competencies and group activity. The Dean of the College, Dr. Rula Darwish, congratulated the winning team of our students, stressing our pride in the students' skills and that this excellence represents an important step towards achieving academic and professional excellence for pharmacy students and qualifying them in the labor market. We are all proud of the achievements of our students.

| | | Over the course of five days, the College of Pharmacy held the OSCE exam for students of training course 2. The exam included 3 stages, which were divided as follows: The first stage included conducting an interview with the patient and reading a prescription containing one of the inhalers for asthma patients, as well as one of the medications used to stop smoking, where the student must provide complete advice regarding the use of these medications and their doses. The second stage (the doctor stage), where the student is presented with 3 medical cases: The first case: It is accompanied by a medical analysis, and the student must read this analysis and calculate the doses of medications given to the patient's condition. The second case: It includes reading a doctor's prescription for dispensing medications given intravenously. Third case: Calculating doses of antibiotics for children The third station: using reliable medical sources.

| | | On May 26-27, the School of Pharmacy introduced a summative Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) as a new competency-based assessment for final-year PharmD students. This rigorous examination required students to rotate through several stations on a timed basis, encountering a variety of simulated tasks and performing specific functions at each station.
The OSCE comprised both interactive and non-interactive stations. At interactive stations, students engaged with standardized patients, carers, or healthcare professionals, with a trained examiner evaluating their performance using a standardized marking key. In contrast, non-interactive stations required written responses, which were assessed without direct observation.
The OSCE stations covered a wide range of competencies essential for pharmacy practice, including:
o Patient Care o Professional Collaboration and Teamwork o Ethical, Legal, and Professional Responsibilities o Drug, Therapeutic, and Practice Information o Communication and Education o Drug Distribution o Management Principles In Hospital Clerkship I, the summative OSCE included 14 stations: 11 non-interactive and 3 interactive. For Hospital Clerkship II, the exam expanded to 19 stations: 13 non-interactive and 6 interactive. These stations were meticulously designed to test a diverse array of skills and competencies, such as:
Communication: Effectively communicate drug-related information. Patient Counselling: Provide guidance and support to patients regarding their medications. History-Taking: Accurately gather patient histories. Problem-Solving: Identify drug-related problems and design appropriate pharmaceutical care plans. Problem Identification and Prioritisation: Recognize and prioritize patient issues. Dose Conversions and Clinical Calculation: Perform accurate dose conversions and clinical calculations, particularly in cases of renal dysfunction. Data Retrieval: Extract relevant information from various medical charts. Laboratory Data Interpretation: Analyze and interpret laboratory data. Legislative and Prescribing Errors: Identify errors related to legislation and prescriptions. Medical Device Techniques: Demonstrate the correct use of medical devices. Ethical Dilemmas: Navigate real-world pharmacy ethical dilemmas. Case-Based Discussion: Engage in discussions based on specific cases. Medication Consultation: Conduct thorough medication consultations. Medication Review: Review and assess patient medications. Physician-Pharmacist Discussion: Collaborate with physicians to identify and resolve patient problems.

the second six weeks of the second semester 2023-2024, the OSCE exam was held
for sixth-year students - Doctor of Pharmacy - in the outpatient specialty,
which consists of two separate dialogue sessions: the student plays the role of
clinical pharmacist in the two sessions; By providing pharmaceutical care to
the patient in the first session (patient station) and then interviewing the
specialist doctor in the second session (physician station); Before submitting
the oral discussion for the two sessions, the student prepares for the required
cases. The OSCE exam represents the oral exam for students in the outpatient
specialty. This exam is held 4 times per semester. Each time the exam presents
a new group of students.

College of Pharmacy is proud of its distinguished students. The
two students, Wiam Al-Adwan and Rana Al-Rahmaneh, participated in the
conference (The Entrepreneurship Forum and Support for Startups) under the
patronage of Her Excellency Mrs. Wafa Bani Mustafa, Minister of Social
Development, in the first forum for entrepreneurship and support for startups
in Jordan. The forum brought together the most prominent Jordanian
entrepreneurs, experts, Mentors, financiers, and investors for a day of
cooperation and innovation. Mechanisms for supporting young entrepreneurs and
mechanisms for developing their projects and ideas were discussed through a
group of specialized trainers. We are happy with this participation and move
forward!

| | | The first meeting of the College's Advisory Council was held in the College of Pharmacy, headed by the Dean of the College, Prof. Rula Darwish, and including the distinguished former deans of the College: Prof. Ali Al-Qaisi, Prof. Khaled Al-Fawares, Prof. Talal Abu Rajie, Prof. Abla Al-Basoul, and Prof. Rana Abu Al-Dhahab. The council also includes Dr. Bassam Amr, a faculty member at the college, and Ms. Areej Attiya, assistant administrative dean and secretary of the council. The community service representatives are Dr. Ibrahim Jalal and Dr. Badie Yaish. The student, Hamza Al-Azazma, represents the college students, and the pharmacist, Salah Qandil, is a former graduate of the college and a member of the union council. The Dean of the College, Prof. Rula Darwish, gave a presentation about the college, including the vision, mission, infrastructure, relationship with the college's partners, and their contributions, as well as the contributions of the teaching and administrative staff and students in the college and their role in raising the college's reliability and rankings within international classifications. As well as what has been accomplished and developed in the college, as the new floor was opened for expansion, improving the infrastructure and raising the level of services in the college. Future plans and the university's vision were discussed regarding developing students' competencies in terms of empowering them in the English and Arabic languages, as well as career readiness.

| | | The University of Jordan has achieved an advanced global ranking in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024, which is considered the most influential and important in the field of subject rankings worldwide. This ranking is annually released by the British institution 'QS'. The university secured advanced positions in all five scientific fields classified and in eighteen specific disciplines. In terms of specializations, the University of Jordan was ranked in five subjects among the top 200 universities in the world, including the **Pharmacy program, which was ranked among the top 101-150 universities globally. Locally and within the Arab region, the University of Jordan ranked first locally and fourth regionally in the Pharmacy specialization.** Dean of the Faculty, Dr. Rula Darwish expressed her pride in the progress achieved by the college in this prestigious international classification, which reflects the college’s efforts in achieving its vision to advance its integrity at the international level and achieve leadership in the field of education and scientific research and its role in providing a stimulating and appropriate educational environment for the development of skills and knowledge. The International Rankings and Accreditation Office indicated that this ranking is based on five criteria: the academic reputation of the specialization, measured by the reputation of scientific research in the field to be classified, the research faculty's reputation, the employment reputation of specialization graduates, the citation rate per internationally published research in the specialization, global research collaboration within the specialization, and finally, the citation index for research published in this field (H-index)."
