The College of Pharmacy held a medical day in front of the medical colleges' lecture halls complex, combining education, entertainment, and health benefits.
The medical day included a variety of activities and events, most notably awareness-raising and educational sessions, and the distribution of brochures designed by sixth-year Doctor of Pharmacy students on a variety of diseases and targeted topics, including chronic diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes, chronic joint diseases, and methods of prevention and treatment. The students also provided blood pressure and sugar measurements for the target group and provided medical advice.
There are also stations to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking and vaping, as well as tips for quitting smoking in collaboration with the King Hussein Cancer Center. Another station covers facts and myths related to mental health, and an awareness station on how to prevent cancer. Not to mention the awareness and education station on how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for children and adults.
In addition to implementing a blood donation campaign in coordination with the university's Community Service Office and the Jordanian Ministry of Health, there was a large turnout among students and faculty members to donate blood. The medical day also hosted a drug exhibition in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Public Security Directorate to raise awareness of the dangers and harms of drugs and how to prevent them.
