A
workshop was held at the School of Pharmacy at the University of Jordan, in
partnership with the World Health Organization, on “Design Thinking for
Antimicrobial Resistance” for fifth- and sixth-year college students, on the
occasion of World Antimicrobial Resistance Awareness Week.
In
a dialogue on the sidelines of the workshop with representatives of the World
Health Organization in Jordan, the Dean, Dr. Rula Darwish, welcomed the guests
from the World Health Organization and stressed the importance of this
partnership with the organization at all levels. Dr. Darwish explained the
importance of the issue of antimicrobial resistance, its catastrophic
consequences, and the need for concerted efforts to raise awareness of this
issue.
Dr.
Rula stressed the primary role of students and graduates of the College of
Pharmacy, not only in raising awareness of antibacterial resistance, but also
in contributing to reducing it, as future pharmacists possess the information
and skills that qualify them for this role.
The
three-day workshop, in which about 20 students participate, aims to raise
participants’ awareness and enhance their understanding of the problem of
antimicrobial resistance and its impact on public health, and to empower the
new generation of health care providers.
